December 6 was an ordinary date before the year 1992 but in 1992, it converted in the day of drama, the day of crime, the day of foolishness, the day of dirty politics, the day of religious extremism and the day of shame. This date witnessed an incident that was completely nonsecular in its nature in the secular state and caused furors at many places.
Demolition of the disputed structure has already become the topic of debate. Many intellectuals, politicians, religious leaders, social workers, writers have already debated on its causes and results. Matter is in court and now become the matter of law. How shameful is that a matter of faith could not be resolved outside of court.
On its political part, it was observed at that time (during 1990’s) that religious emotions were so strong that it could benefit the political leaders. Result was obvious, the dispute was already there. The only requirement was to burn the dry leaves. Politics burnt it and the Ayodhya became a ring of fire. Thousands of innocent people (innocent because they didn’t had enough understanding of real religious teachings) get diverted by others in Ram Janambhoomi Andolan and lost their lives. But this was not the end, fire spread over many parts of country (somewhere across India too), and many clashes happened among communal groups.
Was it really required? What was the real requirement of the people? Was it the Ram Temple or Ram Raj (disciplined administration)?Innocent mob with forced criminal teachings destructed a disputed structure on the name of religious will.
Now, the court will give the judgment about ownership of God’s place. However, it is not clear and doubt is there if any judgment will be accepted to public/ parties. Now, apart from ownership issue, many legal hearings took place over the issue, but no one knows if anybody get accused and punished for destruction of the structure?
In fact, neither hindus nor muslims nor any other religion teach us for violence. Allegiance in religion is important because of its teachings for humanity. Communal harmony is one of the most required reform of the time. At least in India, where religion plays an important role in many important issues, it becomes necessary to handle the sensitive issues carefully. Religion becomes the largest factor of vote banks in this secular state on one side, while on the other, religion itself becomes the major factor of social teachings of peace, non violence and spiritualism.
Every religion has its own importance and a political state treats them equally. States have responsibility for serious efforts of maintaining harmony. Many new and innovative things may start from the side of government such as launch of new programs, inclusion of best teachings of all religions in course curriculum in schools etc. We should learn to bear others if they are doing/saying bad about us, we should learn to praise if others are doing well. We should learn to inculcate the basic objective of religion that is serving of human being. We all have duty to maintain the integrity of society and we all should have so much unity among ourselves that no one can destroy the harmony of our society.
